While it is not our intent to lose connection with God, we may very well find ourselves disconnected from Him. In this day and age, we all have several distractions vying for our attention. Aside from our familial roles, we are bombarded with distractions. Take a look and see a few distractions I have encountered. Also, take inventory to see if you too have encountered some of these distractions.
– Work, whether you are a stay at home mom, work at home mom or a work outside of the home mom, we can attest to being pulled in a million directions; where is the time with the Lord?
– Chatting/Texting with friends (do not get me wrong, maintaining friendships is important, but there should be balance here)
-Social media, good ole social media! With various social media platforms, it is easy to get entangled in reposting, tweeting, pinning, liking or scrolling
-Television, in particular reality shows, the DIY shows, and food channels will keep us entertained for hours! If you binge watch on the weekends, that’s the ENTIRE weekend!
These distractions can cause us to disconnect from God.
But here’s the thing, He longs to spend time with us. He desires a true relationship with you and I. Reading the Bible renews our mind.
Psalm 119:105” Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.”
John 15:4 “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.”
So, how do you get reconnected with God?
-Confess that you have put other things(idols) or people above Him
-Ask for His forgiveness of putting others or things before Him
-Pray that He will draw near to you as you draw near to Him
-Open your Bible (Have no clue where to start? Maybe start with a Psalm or Proverb a day)
-Become intentional on what time you will carve out for you and Him
Know that Jesus loves you, unconditionally! Remember that you are a daughter of the one true King!
