Dear Single Mother:
Dear friend,I have been there…in the single motherhood trenches. I know what it is like to try to “make it work” with the father of your children.
I know what it is like to be used, thrown away like garbage, demeaned to the point that it turns to verbal abuse by the one you thought loved you.
I know all to well what it is like to come home with a newborn bundle of joy…alone. Dropped off like a piece of trash.
I was there (alone) during the sleepless nights, the potty training, the nurturing, the disciplining and teaching.
I was there working 40+ hours to make ends meet. I struggled.
You, my dear friend may be hurting, confused, mad all while wanting nothing more than to give your children a family they deserve.
You see, I was there at the young age of 20 years old. Sure, I was a Christian but I was so far away from knowing Jesus. I was broken, looking for love and attention in all the wrong places.
At age 22 years old, I found myself pregnant again, alone. I was still far away from Jesus. Yea, I went to church, I prayed every now and again. But again, no relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
For five years I was struggling to survive as a single mother.
My heart breaks for you.
I want you to know your worth…because for most of my life, I did not.
You are a treasure
I want you to have a close relationship with Jesus…because I did not.
Jesus longs to have a relationship
I want you stop getting in bed with that man who is using you. He is not your husband so why treat him who is so unworthy as such?
He is not worth it
My dear friend, know that there are men out in this world who truly love and live for the Lord. Their life reflects it. There is a man who will not only love you as Christ loves the church, he would honor you, cherish you and treat you like the amazing woman you are. This man will lead his family God’s way, raise and love your children as his own. He is out there. No need to search for him.
Proverbs 18:22 “The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord.”
Lord, please help my sister know her worth. May she love and respect herself to not lay down with any other man except for her husband. May you lead her, guide her, give her strength to mother her children. Heal her brokenness and her heartache. If there is any bitterness or forgiveness, soften her heart. Give her the energy to mother, teach, nurture and raise her children in this season of single motherhood. I also ask that you would give her strength and wisdom to resist the temptation. Heavenly Father, fill her mind with your truth, hope and peace. In Jesus name, amen.
