Here we are, part two of my journey through the valley of night weaning. I cannot believe it has been a week since we started on our journey of night weaning. Last week, I blogged about the first three nights of this journey. I am glad to report that each night got better. So much so that…wait for it…I got a full night’s rest!!! No more nightly feedings where I barely get 6 hours of sleep. Thank you, Lord!
No more sleep deprivation for me!
Day 4- We repeated day three, nothing new but since it was the weekend, we had time to nurse when the sun rose. I explained that since the sun was out, he could get “meal”. We nursed as usual for the rest of the day, on demand. Bedtime was a success!
Day 5- We slept through the night! Yippee!!!!!!!!!!! (sorry for the excess exclamation points). But, I am overjoyed because I haven’t gotten a full night’s rest in 23 months. So yea, I am ecstatic! I am proud of my little guy! He did wake up around 6:50 AM but by that time, the sun was rising.
Day 6- My little guy was under the weather. It took everything out of me to not nurse him to sleep. Instead, we cuddled until he went night night. Around 11:30 PM, he asked for “meal” but I rocked him back to sleep. The rest of the night was a breeze!
I think I can safely say that he is fully weaned from night nursing!
I will give it one more week before we transition him to his toddler bed. All four kids have co-slept so now is the perfect time to transition him to his own bed. I’ll be sure to share pics of his toddler bed; it is too cute!
