Have you found yourself in the midst of a trial? Or perhaps several trials going on at once? What do you do when facing a trial in your life? This post may help you whether you are in the thick of a trial or not. Let’s read what scripture says about trials. John 16:33 ” I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
See? Jesus warns us that though we will face trials and sorrows, we can rest knowing that Jesus has overcome the world. Thank you, Jesus! Here is another scripture of encouragement from the book of James.
T rust in the Lord
I ntercede (pray)
L ay it at His feet
S ubmit your will and way
Trust in the Lord. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. That this one is key because if we really truly put our hope and our trust in the Lord we can have peace. Because God is faithful. He will never leave you not forsake you.Rejoice.You may be asking yourself, how can I rejoice when I am going through a trial? Personally, I have asked that question when I faced trials in the past. But if we read God’s word and gain a strong understanding of scripture, we truly can rejoice. Philippians 4:4 “Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it –rejoice!” You see? This verse tells us to be full of joy in the Lord(it is the practice of putting our joy in the Lord), not our trials. If we are full of joy in the Lord, it shifts our perspective when we are in the midst of a trial.Intercede. An alternate word for prayer. In your prayer time, especially in the thick of a trial, where is your focus? Is it just on your trials and tribulations? If you find yourself praying for self, try interceding/praying on someone else’s behalf. In turn, this shift from self to someone else’s needs will also allow you to take your focus off of what you are currently going through.Ask God for direction in the midst of your trial. Is he wanting to teach you something? What is the purpose of this particular trial? Ask him for strength and wisdom.
Lay it at His feet. That means surrendering this trial. The worry, doubt and anxious thoughts do not aid in you overcoming your trials.Submit your will and way to the Lord. Try surrendering you will and way to the Lord and see how peace will flood your mind. It’s the peace that you know that you know that God is in control.God knows and sees exactly where you are right now, at this very moment. Trust in Him.
